The Guide, Margaret River

This could be one of the best breakfast spots in Australia, let alone Margaret River. The smart cafe is all views of Bunker Bay, a mere cricket pitch away. Hamish McLeay's menu references his experiences in Asia and those of his team. Expect beautifully executed Japanese omelettes and rosti with roast corn salsa, or at lunch and dinner - when things step up a notch - Abrolhos Islands scallops with shaved coconut salad and green nam jim.

Sometimes, things happen just to prove there is a god who enjoys having the last laugh. The spiritually awakening spot I'm talking about is Bunkers Beach Cafe, which has the distinction of being the only beachside cafe between Busselton and Augusta. The snappily decorated joint is heavenly. The early-morning sun caresses diners' backs through the glass while they study the menu. The food is exquisite...

Cafe with ocean views now open
Set in the picturesque surrounds of Bunker Bay, Bunkers Beach Cafe can offer tourists and South West locals beachside dining at an affordable price. General Manager Juanita Spanbroek is enthusiastic about the cafe. You can walk straight off the beach and have a coffee, a juice, a milkshake or shucked oysters. The menu...is a smorgasbord of flavours with staple dishes...holidaymakers staying at Bunker Bay Resort have responded warmly to having an alternative eating venue. Set in the dunes, the café has been designed to work with its surrounds.
